You can never be too careful when it comes to protecting your teak furniture. You want furniture that is guaranteed to last many seasons of use and give you the feeling that you know that you’ve made the right decision with your purchase. Thankfully, we can provide you with a wide range of products and advice, to ensure that when you’re protecting teak furniture, you’re doing it correctly.
Oiled or Un-oiled Finish
Firstly, our range of furniture can be provided with an un-oiled or oiled finish. An un-oiled finish gives your furniture a more natural look which never fails to impress, however due to it being ‘natural’, your furniture will not be protected against weather & UV light.
Thankfully, we have a solution that allows you to keep that natural look, whilst ensuring that the furniture is protected. We recommend applying our SEMCO teak sealer. SEMCO has several ingredients that work together to protect your furniture from mould/mildew, UV light, moisture & colour loss.
We recommend retreating annually (if stored inside) or twice annually if the furniture is used mostly outside. SEMCO is available in a wide variety of finishes, including Natural, Honeytone, Goldtone & Cleartone (Only coloured versions offer UV protection, Cleartone only offers waterproofing due to it containing no pigments).
An oiled finish gives your furniture a look & feel of quality to them. Oiled furniture allows you to easily repair minor scratches and marks. All you have to do is give the area a light rub down with a green scouring pad (light sand paper if necessary) and re-oil with a soft cloth, taking care to remove any excess between coats. Any teak oil can be used, however, we recommend using our own Teak Oil as it matches our furniture exactly (Several coats and polishing can achieve a very high shine if required).
One of the main benefits of an oiled finish is that the oil applied to the furniture gives a degree of protection from weather & UV light. This allows you to leave your furniture outside overnight with no real need to worry about your furniture becoming damaged. However, constantly leaving your oiled furniture outside for long periods of time will result in the furniture quickly deteriorating. It will then be extremely difficult to return your furniture to its original look without removing all residue oil and starting afresh. Because of this, we recommend storing your furniture inside when possible.
Cleaning & Renovating Teak Furniture
If you would like to clean & renovate your teak, we can also provide a wide range of products. Our teak cleaners offer a deep and thorough clean without having do to do any heavy scrubbing. By doing this, it will ensure your teak furniture has all stains, dirt, oils, and old sealers removed from the wood, whilst ensuring none of the original soft grain from the wood is lost. Once the teak is cleaned, you can now look at renovating your teak. Once applied, our teak renovators ensure that your furniture will be brought back to its original colour. Once applied, wash down with fresh water, and allow your furniture to thoroughly dry.
